The JSE Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) Index promotes sustainable and transparent business practices The SRI index series evolved considerably since it was launched in May 2004. The advent of sustainability initiatives internationally and the King code locally, also saw the index created to foster good corporate citize nship and promote sustainable development. The FTSE/JSE Responsible Investment Index ( J113) A market-cap weighted index calculated on an end of day basis - benchmark. Comprises all eligible companies who achieve the required minimum FTSE Russell ESG rating as set out in the Ground Rules from time to time. FTSE/JSE Responsible Investment Index This index is a broad market benchmark that considers only companies meeting a minimum ESG rating hurdle of 2.5. This index can be used as a benchmark for portfolios that have an ESG-based mandate and it can also be used for research and analysis. The FTSE/JSE Responsible Investment Index Series offers an objective methodology that further promotes the aims of stimulating greater transparency by corporates on environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations, and enabling investors to integrate these considerations into investment and stewardship.
